تلقى السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي اتصالاً هاتفياً من السيد أنطونيو جوتيريش، سكرتير عام الأمم المتحدة، الذي أعرب عن حرصه على مواصلة التشاور مع السيد الرئيس بشأن مستجدات التصعيد في قطاع غزة والمواجهات العسكرية بين الجانبين الفلسطيني والإسرائيلي، في ضوء التطورات المتسارعة التي تمثل تهديداً للاستقرار الإقليمي. وقد استعرض الجانبان الاتصالات والتحركات الدائرة على المستويين الدولي والإقليمي للحث على استعادة التهدئة وخفض التوتر، مؤكدين أهمية تجنب توسيع دائرة الصراع، وإتاحة المجال للجهود الدبلوماسية، لحماية المدنيين ومنع تفاقم الأوضاع الإنسانية المتدهورة. وفي هذا السياق تقدم السكرتير العام بالشكر للسيد الرئيس على الجهود التي تقوم بها مصر، ودورها المقدر على صعيد بذل المساعي لتسهيل وصول المساعدات الإنسانية لقطاع غزة.

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, who expressed his keenness to continue consulting with the President regarding developments pertinent to the escalation in the Gaza Strip and the military confrontations between the Palestinians and Israelis, in light of the rapid developments posing a threat to regional stability.

Both sides reviewed the ongoing contacts and action at the international and regional levels to restore calm and reduce tension, stressing the importance of avoiding the expansion of the conflict, and allowing room for diplomatic efforts to protect civilians and to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

Mr. Guterres thanked the President for Egypt's role and its esteemed efforts to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
