ختام جولة مفاوضات سد النهضة بالقاهرة

انتهت مساء اليوم فعاليات الاجتماع الوزاري الثلاثي الذي استضافته القاهرة يومي ٢٧ و ٢٨ أغسطس بشأن مفاوضات سد النهضة، والذي تم بمشاركة وفود التفاوض من مصر والسودان وإثيوبيا، بهدف الوصول إلى اتفاق بشأن قواعد ملء وتشغيل سد النهضة.

وذكر المتحدث باسم وزارة الموارد المائية والري أن جولة التفاوض المنتهية بالقاهرة لم تشهد تغيرات ملموسة في مواقف الجانب الإثيوبي، مؤكداً في هذا السياق على أن مصر تستمر في مساعيها الحثيثة للتوصل في أقرب فرصة إلى اتفاق قانوني ملزم بشأن قواعد ملء وتشغيل سد النهضة، على النحو الذي يراعى المصالح والثوابت المصرية بالحفاظ على أمنها المائى والحيلولة دون إلحاق الضرر به، ويحقق المنفعة للدول الثلاث، وهو الأمر الذي يتطلب أن تتبنى جميع أطراف التفاوض ذات الرؤية الشاملة التي تجمع بين حماية المصالح الوطنية وتحقيق المنفعة للجميع، وبما ينعكس إيجاباً على جولات التفاوض القادمة بهدف التوصل لاتفاق بشأن قواعد ملء وتشغيل سد النهضة طبقا للبيان الصادر عن اجتماع قيادتي مصر وإثيوبيا في هذا الشأن.

Round of Negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Concludes in Cairo

Cairo, August 28, 2023 - The Ministerial Tripartite Meeting on the negotiations regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) concluded in Cairo on the 28th August, with the participation of delegations from Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia, with the aim of reaching an agreement on the rules of filling and operation of the GERD. 

The spokesperson for the Ministry 

of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt stated that the Cairo round of negotiations did not witness any tangible change in the Ethiopian positions. In this context, he emphasized that Egypt continues to exert utmost efforts to reach, as soon as possible, a legally binding agreement on the rules of filling and operation of  the GERD that fulfill Egypt’s interests and standing positions of safeguarding Egypt’s water security, and avoiding the infliction of harm, while realizing the mutual benefit of all three countries. He reiterated that this requires that all negotiating parties adopt a comprehensive vision that combines the protection of  national interests and achieving benefit for all, in a way that will reflect positively on the upcoming rounds of negotiation, which aim at the conclusion of an agreement on the rules of filling and operation of the GERD, in light of the statement issued on July 13 following the meeting of the leaders of Egypt and Ethiopia.
